Surata IV
Riker, injured in the alien swamp
Surata IV is the fourth planet in the Surata system. In 2365, the USS Enterprise-D visited here, where William Riker was stung by a thorn teeming with Surata microbes which attacked his central nervous system. The vine was predatory as it deliberately stabs any warm-blooded creature that happenes by it. The plant then absorbed the nutrients from the decaying victim in order to grow and propagate.
