A subspace crossover shunt was a device used by Rao Vantika to gain access to secured files through a secondary or non-essential system like the lighting controls, replicators, or waste reclamation system. This device was used twice by Vantika to try and sabotage Deep Space 9 but was discovered the second time by Lieutenant George Primmin before any damage could be done. (DS9: "The Passenger")
