Sub-nagus is a title on Ferenginar for a person in charge of a particular district.
Quark once worked as an apprentice with a sub-nagus. He impressed the sub-nagus so much, he became "his golden boy". Unfortunately, Quark became involved with the the sub-nagus' sister (forgetting Rule of Acquisition 112 and was fired. (DS9: "Playing God")
