The stromatopod is a small lifeform that cannot tolerate extreme cold.
In 2152, the ECS Horizon was delivering a shipment of stromatopod larvae to the Demerians. They had been misplaced, however, and Paul Mayweather hoped that they hadn't been put into cold storage. (ENT: "Horizon")
