The Strnad system was an uninhabited planetary system neighboring the Rubicun system. The primary was named Strnad. One of the planets in this system was a M class planet. The system was located in the Alpha Quadrant.

The system was located inside a stellar cluster containing 3,006 planets that were suitable for colonization. The star cluster was claimed by the Edo God, a powerful being (or beings) worshiped by the Edo, the humanoid inhabitants of Rubicun III.

A planet of this system in 2364 was the temporary home of the Strnad colony. This colony was the home of former residents of Earth ferried there by the USS Enterprise-D. Later, after reaching an accord with the Edo God, the colonists were relocated by the Enterprise. (TNG: "Justice")

Strnad appeared in the starchart Data and Picard were studying in Stellar Cartography in 2371. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)

The star chart seen in "Generations" depicted the location of planets, stars, and star systems in the Alpha Quadrant. Based on the dimensions of the circles used to mark locations on the star chart seen in "Generations", this star was located relatively near to the USS Enterprise-D.
According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (2nd ed., p. 479), this system was "named for Star Trek: The Next Generation production staff member Janet Strnad."
