Steve Oster was a producer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He received a "special thanks" credit in Star Trek: Insurrection.

Before DS9, he was an associate producer on the Ferris Bueller television series. After DS9 ended, he became a consulting producer on Carnivàle. That series starred many former DS9 guest stars, including John Fleck, Adrienne Barbeau and Michael John Anderson.

He is now the executive director of Oregon Film & Video.
