(written from a Production point of view)
Steve Gausche, Jr. became the First Company Grip on Star Trek: The Next Generation beginning with the sixth season episode "Man of the People" when the previous grip, Bob Sordal, went to work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. When TNG ended its run in 1994, Gausche moved on to DS9 while Sordal went to Star Trek: Voyager. Gausche was First Company Grip on DS9 from season three through season seven. Gausche's name was seen on the dedication plaque of the USS Valiant in the DS9 episode "Valiant". His name also appeared on an okudagram in TNG's "Inheritance".
Prior to joining the crew of TNG, Gausche was a key grip on the television series Eerie, Indiana (1991-1992) and on the television drama The Whereabouts of Jenny (1991, with R.D. Knox, Kris Krosskove, and William Jay Gahret). Three years after DS9 ended in 1999, Gausche became the First Company Grip on Charmed, where he remained until 2006. More recently he worked as Key Grip on the comedy series The Loop (2007).
