Jones started to work in the makeup department of films and television in the late 1980s and worked on projects such as the thriller The Order of the Black Eagle (1987), the horror film The Terror Within (1989, with Dean Gates), the science fiction film The Abyss (1989), the science fiction sequel Watchers II (1990, with Dean Jones and Joe Podnar), the horror sequel The Terror Within II (1991, with Dean Jones), the television series Land of the Lost (1991-1992), the science fiction comedy Coneheads (1993, with David Abbott, Allan A. Apone, Zoltan Elek, Tina Hoffman, Michael Key, Toby Lamm, Steve LaPorte, Greg Solomon, Adam Brandy, and Rick Stratton), the science fiction film Last Lives (1997), the drama Doomsday Man (2000), the horror film Toolbox Murders (2004, with Dean Jones and Mark Shostrom) on which he also worked as second unit director and received a Fangoria Chainsaw Award nomination in 2006 shared with Dean Jones, the horror film Mortuary (2005, starring Denise Crosby), the horror film Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006), and the action drama The Kingdom (2007).
Further credits include the television movie Jane Doe: Eye of the Beholder (2008), the crime drama Street Kings (2008), the horror film Day of the Dead (2008, with Ken Niederbaumer and Vincent Van Dyke), the horror thriller Train (2008), and the thriller The Key Man (2011).
More recently, Jones worked as special makeup effects artist on the horror thriller Epidemic Z (2011), the horror comedy Blood Shot (2011, with Ruth Haney and Hugo Villasenor), the drama Lincoln (2012, with Belinda Bryant, Dean Jones, Brad Look, and Lygia Orta), and the comedy You Are Here (2013). He also worked as makeup department head on the science fiction thriller The Bay (2013) and as makeup supervisor on the fantasy comedy The Stupidest Angel (2012, with Dean Jones). He also worked as co-producer and actor on the horror sequel TBK: The Toolbox Murders 2 (2012, with Ethan Phillips and Christopher Doyle).
