Starfleet Cartography was a division of the exploratory agency responsible for creating and maintaining maps and star charts.

In 2379, Starfleet Cartography established an uplink with the USS Enterprise, sending the crew information regarding their position in Romulan space related to the position of Star Fleet Battle Group Omega, on the other side of the Neutral Zone. The uplink was disrupted, however, when the Enterprise entered the Bassen Rift, a region of space where all subspace communications were blocked, providing the perfect site for Praetor Shinzon to conduct an ambush while commanding the Reman Warbird Scimitar.
