A star chart, star atlas, star map, or astrometric chart was any mapping of three-dimensional space, usually undertaken by the Stellar cartography section of a starship, retrieved and edited there or in astrometrics laboratories for navigation purposes.

During the early voyages of Enterprise NX-01, the crew often consulted the Vulcan star charts for reference. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Fight or Flight", "The Andorian Incident", et al.)

In 2152, the crew of Enterprise rescued three Takret Militia deserters, named Renth, Rellus Tagrim, and Guri, from an incoming class 5 neutronic storm. When it was revealed that they were from the distant Takret system, they explained that their work as stellar cartographers often took them far from home. Upon learning this, Jonathan Archer hoped that they could help them update their star charts. (ENT: "The Catwalk")

After the USS Enterprise time traveled from 2268 to 1968 and intercepted the transporter beam of Gary Seven who was then sent to security confinement, Pavel Chekov reported the analysis of the direction that Gary Seven beamed from, however, star maps showed no habitable planets in that area of the Galaxy. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth")

In 2367, Doctor Beverly Crusher became trapped in a static warp bubble. With "her" universe shrinking, the USS Enterprise-D computer stated it had no record of Tau Alpha C on any current star map. (TNG: "Remember Me")

In 2368, Captain Jean-Luc Picard began to live the life of Kamin on the planet Kataan after the Enterprise encountered a spaceborne probe. During this time, he created several star charts of the stellar region surrounding Kataan with the help of a telescope he had constructed. (TNG: "The Inner Light")

In 2369, Major Kira Nerys asked Deep Space 9's Cardassian computer for the star charts of the Argosian sector. The computer instead showed her the star charts of the Glessene sector. (DS9: "Babel")

In 2372, after Tom Paris' transwarp flight, his shuttle, the Cochrane collected over five billion gigaquads of information. Captain Kathryn Janeway told Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres to transfer the data to stellar cartography, so a star chart could be created. (VOY: "Threshold")

In early 2374, Captain Benjamin Sisko asked Elim Garak to study several star charts following a battle with Dominion forces. (DS9: "A Time to Stand")

In 2375, Captain Jean-Luc Picard looked over the few star charts available of the Briar Patch and noted that it was full of supernova remnants and false vacuum fluctuations. (Star Trek: Insurrection)

In 2378, Seven of Nine created a series of holoprograms designed to help her better explore her Humanity. In one such program, she created a set of living quarters aboard the USS Voyager which were sparsely decorated. She entertained the idea of adding a multispectral star chart to one of the bulkheads. The holographic representation of Neelix thought a painting would be a better idea, which Seven misconstrued as Neelix suggesting that she should instead display a painting of a star chart. (VOY: "Human Error")

The Lyridian transgalactic star charts were among the most accurate maps of the Milky Way Galaxy ever created. (VOY: "Think Tank")
