The Star Trek Commemorative Chess Set was produced by The Franklin Mint for Star Trek's 25th anniversary in 1991. This was a standard chess set with TOS-themed pieces:

Gold piecesEdit

• King: Captain James T. Kirk
• Queen: Lt. Uhura
• Bishops: Commander Spock and Dr. Leonard McCoy
• Knights: Lt. Cmdr. Montgomery Scott and Lt. Hikaru Sulu
• Rooks: The USS Enterprise
• Pawns: Starfleet security officers

Silver piecesEdit

• King: Khan Noonien Singh
• Queen: The Romulan commander from "The Enterprise Incident"
• Bishops: A Vian and the Gorgan
• Knights: Romulan officer and Gorn commander
• Rooks: Klingon D7-class cruiser
• Pawns: Klingon foot soldiers

The pieces were produced in pewter, plated in either 24-karat gold or sterling silver and placed on crystal hexagonal bases. The board doubled as the storage case for the pieces.
