Star Trek is an upcoming co-op video game set for release in 2013. It is reported to be set in the alternate reality, just after the events of Star Trek, allowing gamers to play as James T. Kirk and Spock, as they prevent an invasion by alien parasites following their attempted takeover of the USS Enterprise.
The game was developed by Digital Extremes, with a script written by Marianne Krawczyk. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have provided input on the storyline, while Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will provide voiceovers. Using set blueprints, Digital Extremes will also show areas of the Enterprise not fully seen in the film, such as the shuttlebay. Kirk and Spock will each have their own unique gameplay attributes, with Spock utilizing a phaser cannon and his Vulcan mind melding ability. [1]
A Playstation Move phaser and a prequel game available from the Playstation Network were announced at E3 2011.[2]
On 10 February 2012, it was announced that Namco Bandai would co-publish and distribute the game in Spring 2013, shortly before the release of the Untitled Star Trek sequel. [3]
