Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Next Level is a Blu-ray Disc release, showcasing a selection of episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1080p high-definition, in preparation for the release of the entire series in that format. Released on 31 January 2012, the sampler disc includes "Encounter at Farpoint", "Sins of the Father", and "The Inner Light".

On 7 November 2011, tvshowsondvd.com reported that thirteen seconds of footage from the third season episode "Sins Of The Father" could not be located and would be up-converted from the standard definition tape masters that CBS currently has. [1] On 11 April 2012, director Robert Meyer Burnett announced that the missing thirteen seconds were located, and would be be integrated into the final Blu-ray release of the third season. [2]
