(written from a Production point of view)

Star Trek: The Animated Series was released, in full on the Betamax format under the title The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek in the US by Paramount Home Video in 1989, using the same packaging as the VHS release. The only difference was that a "Beta" sticker was applied to each cover. There were two episodes per tape and 11 volumes altogether. Episodes were in production order, which differs significantly from the series as aired.

"The Ambergris Element" is listed as episode 13 instead of 12, and the numbering continues after that up to 23.
