Star Trek: Alien Spotlight is the fourth IDW miniseries of Star Trek comics. The 6-issue run involves stories featuring six different alien species, and is set in several different eras in the "Star Trek Universe". The first issue was released early October 2007 and was followed by five more monthly issues to complete the run.

Three of the stories are set in the Original Series time frame and three during the Next Generation era.

An omnibus edition was released 14 May 2008 collecting all 6 issues.

A second miniseries has been announced for late 2008, including one issue written by Keith R.A. DeCandido, focusing on the Klingons. DeCandido confirmed the species being used in April 2008, noting that the edition would be titled "Four Thousand Throats..." [1] The artist for the issue will be J.K. Woodward. [2]

Editor Andrew Steven Harris noted in Star Trek Magazine issue 138 that other species to appear will include Tholians, Ferengi, Betazoids, and "a couple that will be surprises along the way"; writers will include Scott and David Tipton, James Patrick, and Mike W. Barr. [3] Harris later revealed that he would be writing the Ferengi-centric issue. [4]
