Spyglass Entertainment is an American film and television production company which helped to finance production on Star Trek. The company is credited as a co-presenter of the film along with Paramount Pictures. [1] Incidentally, Jeffrey Chernov, one of Star Trek's executive producers, was the Executive in Charge of Production at Spyglass from 2001 through 2005.
Spyglass Entertainment was founded in 1999 by Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum. The majority of their films have been distributed by the present-day Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (formerly Buena Vista), including The Sixth Sense, The Insider, Shanghai Noon (and its sequel, Shanghai Knights), Unbreakable, The Count of Monte Cristo, Reign of Fire, The Pacifier, Eight Below, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Prior to Star Trek, Paramount Pictures distributed three films produced by Spyglass Entertainment: Abandon, The Perfect Score, and The Love Guru. Star Trek is the second film written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci with which Spyglass has been involved; the first was 2005's The Legend of Zorro. The company's other films include such hits as Bruce Almighty, Seabiscuit, Memoirs of a Geisha, Balls of Fury, 27 Dresses, Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins, The Happening, and Wanted.
