Sputnik I

Sputnik I in orbit of Earth in 1957.

Sputnik I was the first artificial satellite launched by Humans. It was built by the Soviet Union (a former nation-state on Earth), and was launched on October 4, 1957.

The Vulcans T'Mir, Mestral, Stron, and their captain observed the launch of Sputnik I while conducting research above Earth that year. (ENT: "Carbon Creek")
