"Spider ship" was the term Captain Kathryn Janeway, playing the character of Arachnia in Tom Paris' Captain Proton holonovel, used to describe the vessels in Arachnia's space force. She improvised the term while proposing an alliance with Doctor Chaotica. (VOY: "Bride of Chaotica!")
