The Spanish Armada was a massive naval force sent in 1588 to neutralize Queen's Royal Navy, establish a landing zone on Britain and bring the Spanish army waiting on the European mainland across the English Channel for the invasion and occupation of England. Ultimately England defeated the Armada.

In 2152 Malcolm Reed expressed his wish that he might have taken part in the defeat of the Spanish invaders. Trip Tucker, knowing Reed's long family connection with the Royal Navy, replied that he was sure that "someone named Reed had a lot to do with that." (ENT: "Future Tense")
