A sonnet is a type of poetry found on planet Earth put also on other planets.

In 2369, Data composed a sonnet and presented it during a poetry recital in Ten Forward. According to Geordi La Forge, the sonnet was "clever" but was not able to evoke an emotional response. (TNG: "Schisms")
