Snuff box

Wilhelm Gottsreich Sigismond von Ormstein's snuff box

A snuff box was a small, often ornately designed box or container in which to hold snuff, a ground or otherwise pulverized material such as Hupyrian beetles or finely ground tobacco which one inhaled through the nose.

In the first novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, A Scandal in Bohemia, Wilhelm Gottsreich Sigismond von Ormstein, king of Bohemia once gave Sherlock Holmes a jeweled snuff box with gold accents. (TNG: "Elementary, Dear Data")

Former Ferengi Grand Nagus Zek carried a quantity of Hupyrian beetle snuff in a latinum-plated octagonal snuff box with him wherever and whenever he traveled. (DS9: "The Nagus")
