Shmun was a main character in the erotic holonovel Vulcan Love Slave, Volume III. His female counterpart was T'lana.

In 2375, Quark, in a moment of confusion when he thought the mirror universe Ezri Tigan was role-playing in an attempt to seduce him, asked her to call him "Shmun" while he called her "T'lana." (DS9: "The Emperor's New Cloak")
