Schmitt was a crewmember aboard the 21st century NASA explorer ship Charybdis, launched on July 23, 2037. Schmitt was among the crew killed when the ship was swept off course by an unknown alien force. (TNG: "The Royale")
The Charybdis patch is the mission patch for the Apollo 17 mission, the last manned mission to the moon. The names on the patch are the names of real astronauts. Harrison Schmitt was the second-to-last man to walk on the moon.
