Saracen was a term used to describe the ancient Mediterranean pirates of Earth.

When inquiring as to the whereabouts of Carolyn Palamas and told that "she's no longer any concern to you," the outraged Montgomery Scott referred to Apollo as a "blood thirsty Saracen."

Scott's metaphorical reference was made in describing Apollo's previous "theft" of Palamas from the rest of the landing party, as well as Apollo's self-proclaimed Olympian origins. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?")
