Prior to her work on Star Trek: Insurrection, Hays designed the costumes for such films as Spaced Invaders, And You Thought Your Parents Were Weird (which featured Susan Gibney and Armin Shimerman), 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, and the Marvel Comics-based vampire hit Blade. She was also a costumer of films such as Meet the Applegates (which starred Ed Begley, Jr.) and Tombstone (which featured Paula Malcomson and Terry O'Quinn) and an assistant costume designer on Stargate (featuring Erick Avari and Leon Rippy), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, and Independence Day (featuring Bill Smitrovich and Brent Spiner).
Hays' more recent costume design credits include all four movies in the Fast and the Furious franchise and the two xXx films, as well as Mission to Mars, Along Came a Spider (which starred Anton Yelchin), Cheaper by the Dozen (featuring Holmes Osborne and Alan Ruck), Gridiron Gang (starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and featuring Brett Cullen, Michael Jace, and Leon Rippy), and Next (featuring Jim Beaver). In 2009, she was nominated by the Costume Designers Guild Awarda for her work on The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Hay most recently designed the costumes for the upcoming science fiction-action film Battle: Los Angeles, which is being produced by Jeffrey Chernov.
