A sand wedge was an open-faced golf club whose primary use was for getting out of sand bunkers.

In 2374, Steth, posing as Tom Paris, replicated a sand wedge for B'Elanna Torres so that they could play golf on the holodeck. (VOY: "Vis à Vis")
