580 California Street 1986

580 California Street in 1986

580 California Street was an office skyscraper in San Francisco. Constructed in the late 20th century, this building was an example of the Postmodern style. This building was located on on California Street.

In 1986, it was seen briefly on the viewscreen of the HMS Bounty as the ship flew into the city. Later, it was visible as Hikaru Sulu flew a helicopter over San Francisco Bay in 1986. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

At the time of the filming of the film, the building was under construction. This was seen by the absence of the sculptures that decorated the roof of this building. These statutes, which were called "The Corporate Goddesses", were added to the building after filming.
