Sabak was a revered Klingon.

The story of Sabak and his armor was well known to the Klingons. While Worf and Kor were talking in Quark's in 2372, Kor mentioned that Sabak's armor was inferior to the Sword of Kahless. (DS9: "The Sword of Kahless")
