Recorder marker from the SS Valiant
The SS Valiant was a starship launched from Earth in 2065.
At some point the Valiant encountered a magnetic storm that overwhelmed its impulse engines, and swept the vessel towards the edge of the galaxy. Thrown a full ½ light year outside, the ship encountered, upon attempted reentry, some unknown force that caused severe damage, and was initially thought to have caused the death of seven crewmen before one was successfully revived. Shortly thereafter, the crewman was discovered to have developed ESP-capabilities. The individual's powers began to increase until he reached the point of becoming a danger to remainder of the crew, and the Valiant captain was forced to activate the ship's auto-destruct sequence, destroying it.
In 2265, the recorder marker sent from the Valiant, just prior to its destruction, was discovered by the USS Enterprise. The crew was then able to discover the events that led to the ship's destruction. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before") Template:StarshipValiant
