Background information Edit

• The purpose of the SD-103 shuttle was specified in the script of Star Trek VI, together with Generations the only productions in which that specific shuttle appears. The final draft of the script (scene 18) read:

             As a ship flies toward the dock in the b.g.
                                             NAVIGATOR'S VOICE
                          Control, this is S-D One-Zero-Three,
                          approach to space dock. Over.

                          deliver Captain Kirk and party to
                          N-C-C One-Seven-Zero-One-Alpha. Over.

• During the interim between the The Undiscovered Country and Generations the model was altered to appear as the Sydney-class on TNG and DS9.

• The shuttle on the Enterprise-D's saucer in Generations was not an actual studio model, but rather a matte painting where live action photography was later inserted in post-production. (Cinefex, 61, page 77) The USS Farragut shuttlecraft was most likely stock footage from Star Trek VI, edited in post-production as the actual studio model was already converted in the USS Jenolen.
