The Royal Air Force, or RAF, was Old Britain's primary air defense force in the 20th and 21st centuries and the first air force to be established in pre-warp Human history. Among the feats the RAF achieved was securing British airspace against German air supremacy, preventing a ground invasion during World War II. The most notable battle in this campaign was the Battle of Britain.

Miles O'Brien and Julian Bashir routinely used a holodeck program that allowed them to participate in the Battle of Britain as RAF pilots. (DS9: "Homefront")

In the Hirogen World War II holodeck simulation set in 1944, Commander Chakotay (as Captain Miller), suggested calling in the RAF to bomb a German military installation, which was in fact a breach in the holodeck to the rest of the USS Voyager. (VOY: "The Killing Game, Part II")
