Ross was a Starfleet officer, assigned to the Engineering Department of the USS Enterprise-D. This officer held the rank of lieutenant in 2367. During a routine power transfer conduit service when the starship was performing scheduled impulse maneuvers, Ross examined the condition of the conduits. He reported that plasma erosion was within expected parameters, remaining well within safety limits. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")
