Ronald Tracey

Ronald Tracey was a 23rd century Starfleet captain, the commanding officer of the Constitution-class USS Exeter.

When the Exeter maintained an orbit around planet Omega IV, Tracey's crew contracted a deadly virus that ultimately killed them. Tracey beamed down to the planet and found that the atmosphere contained a cure for the virus. When the USS Enterprise discovered the Exeter, its crew also contracted the virus, but also discovered that the bio-sphere of the planet contained an immunity.

When Enterprise Captain James T. Kirk and his away team beamed down to the planet, they found that Tracey was in violation of the Prime Directive in that he had interfered with the planet's society, using his phaser to aid the Kohms in their dispute with the Yangs. Tracey first killed security guard Lt. Galloway, then demanded weapons from Kirk. When Kirk refused, Tracey had him imprisoned. Kirk escaped and was then able to subdue Tracey and place him under arrest. The Enterprise crew was cured of the virus through prolonged exposure to the planet's atmosphere. (TOS: "The Omega Glory")
