Romulan philisophy
The philosophy of the Romulan civilization is, plain and simply, loyalty. Loyalty to state and government above even your own needs. In the military, loyalty is, most notably, to the Praetor himself. Whether you agree or not with the Praetor's orders, it is your sacred duty, above all else, to carry out his wishes, or die trying ("Balance of Terror", TOS). They also have a belief in their own superiority above all other species that goes beyond mere arrogance. Unlike their Vulcan "brothers", Romulans do not hide their emotions. In fact, they tend to revel in them, being kind and even loving one moment, yet violent the next ("The Neutral Zone", TNG).
