They were quite possibly the first homosexual couple to have appeared within either the Star Trek TV series or in the Star Trek Novels.

He later appeared in the Worlds of Deep Space Nine book series, as a Guardian taking a leave of absence from Starfleet in the story about Trill.

Currently, he appears in the Star Trek: Titan book series, as the USS Titan's Chief of Security.
