The Rodulan species was an older species known for their art form called basotile.
Kivas Fajo owned the first one ever created, commenting in 2366 that it was centuries old. (TNG: "The Most Toys")
The Rodulans were mentioned in the novel Rising Son as trying to recover a number of their earlier basotiles and offering good money for them.
