Roberto was a member of the Maquis in the 2370s and a friend of Chakotay and B'Elanna Torres.

Roberto was killed when the Maquis was effectively wiped out by the Dominion in 2373. The news of his and the others' deaths was part of a letter sent by the imprisoned Maquis Sveta to Chakotay aboard the USS Voyager in 2374. (VOY: "Hunters")
