Robert M. Cole is a special and visual effects artist who worked as special effects artist on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Working from the 1960s on, Cole provided special effects for television series such as Mister Ed (1965-1966), The Addams Family (1965-1966), Petticoat Junction (1965-1970), The Beverly Hillbillies (1965-1971), Green Acres (1965-1971), Bearcats! (1971), B.J. and the Bear (1978-1981), Supertrain (1979), and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979-1981).

Further credits as special effects artist include The Blues Brothers (1980), Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980), The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981, with Kevin Pike and David P. Kelsey), Poltergeist (1982), Blade Runner (1982, with Kenneth E. Estes, Donald Myers, Terry Frazee, Logan Frazee, and Greg Curtis), Cheers, The A-Team, Hardcastle and McCormick, Riptide, Hunter, and Stingray, Ghostbusters (1984), Midnight Run (1988), Soapdish (1991), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), Coneheads (1993), Addams Family Values (1993), Batman Forever (1995) Batman & Robin (1997), The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000), Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Serenity (2005), Iron Man (2008), Bedtime Stories (2008), Inception (2010), and The Social Network (2010).

More recently, Cole worked on the special effects in John Carter (2012), People Like Us (2012, written and produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, directed by Alex Kurtzman, and starring Chris Pine), Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012), This Is 40 (2012, special effects coordinated by Donald Frazee), and the music drama Boogie Town (2012).
