Rigel XII

Rigel XII was the twelfth planet of the Rigel star system. Conditions on the planet were harsh, and habitation was only possible in sealed pressure domes. Grit and dust were everywhere, and sandstorms were a frequent occurrence. These storms were especially bad during a magnetic storm. Water was scarce, and plant life was twisted and sere.

In the mid-23rd century, Rigel XII was the site of a lithium mining operation run by Ben Childress with two partners. In 2266, con artist Harcourt Mudd, using the illegal Venus drug, attempted to sell Eve McHuron, Ruth Bonaventure and Magda Kovacs to the miners. (TOS: "Mudd's Women")

Location Edit

In the episode "Conspiracy", there was a galactic map. This map showed the locations of several stars and planets from Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Animated Series. In this map, Rigel was located in a block set between 349 and 350, and four blocks from the galactic edge. (Sol was located in a block set between 348 and 349, and two blocks from the galactic edge.)
