Rigel II was the inhabited second planet of the Rigel system. (TOS: "Shore Leave") It was located in the Kandari sector, a region of space in the Alpha Quadrant. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, production art; TNG: "Conspiracy" display graphic)
Lieutenant Commander Leonard McCoy of the Federation starship USS Enterprise once met a pair of scantily-clad women in a cabaret chorus line on Rigel II. In 2267, the two women were recreated from Dr. McCoy's imagination on the Shore Leave Planet in the Omicron Delta region. (TOS: "Shore Leave")
The location of Rigel identified in the "The Explored Galaxy" star chart placed it between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both were identified in DS9: "The Search, Part II", "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant.
According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pgs. 52, 59, "United Federation of Planets I"), Rigel II, also known as Beta Rigel II was a M-class planet. The planet was a member planet of both the United Rigel Colonies and the United Federation of Planets. Rigel IV was admitted, along with the United Rigel Colonies, to the Federation in 2202.
