Richard Milhous Nixon was a 20th century human who served as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 until his resignation in 1974. During this time, Nixon successfully opened the door to China, becoming the first United States president to visit the Communist nation.
Nixon was forced to resign in 1974 due to the Watergate scandal. (DS9: "Q-Less")
In 2293, Spock quoted a Vulcan saying that stated: "Only Nixon could go to China." (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
