Richard Galen in 2369.

Richard Galen was a professor of archaeology who paid a surprise visit to Jean-Luc Picard, one of his former students, with news of a discovery so profound that it would echo throughout the galaxy. When Picard chose duty instead of accompanying Galen on an expedition to further explore Galen's discovery, Galen left angrily to pursue his discovery alone.

Shortly thereafter, Galen died as a result of injuries suffered when his shuttle was attacked by the Yridians. Fortunately, Picard, working with both the Klingon Captain Nu'Daq and Cardassian Gul Ocett, was able to expand upon Galen's work to prove the Professor's theory. (TNG: The Chase)

Galen was played by actor Norman Lloyd.
