Bronskill holds Musicae Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Music) and Master of Music degrees in Composition from the University of Toronto. He began orchestrating and composing films in the 1980s. The first film he orchestrated was the Academy Award-nominated 1987 drama The Dead, which featured Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actor Colm Meaney and his then-wife, Star Trek: Voyager guest star Bairbre Dowling.

Since then, Bronskill has been an orchestrator on such films as All Dogs Go to Heaven (featuring the voice of Vic Tayback), Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time (starring James Avery, Michael Berryman, and Lawrence Dobkin), True Lies, In the Army Now (starring Andy Dick and Lori Petty), Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace (featuring Matt Frewer, Kevin Conway, and Richard Fancy), Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (featuring the voice of Michael Bell), Rugrats Go Wild (featuring the voices of Michael Bell, Tony Jay, and Ethan Phillips), and two Pokémon films: Pokémon: The Movie 2000 and Pokémon 3: The Movie.

Bronskill has orchestrated a number of made-for-TV movies, as well, including Onassis: The Richest Man in the World (featuring Anthony Zerbe), Miss Rose White (directed by Joseph Sargent), No Greater Love (starring Chris Sarandon and Daniel Hugh Kelly), and DC 9/11: Time of Crisis (starring Gregory Itzin, Stephen Macht, Penny Johnson, Lawrence Pressman, Scott Alan Smith, and George Takei).

In addition, Bronskill orchestrated several TV mini-series, notably 1989's Around the World in 80 Days and 1990's Lucky/Chances (starring Phil Morris and Jimmie F. Skaggs). He also composed additional music for the 1990s animated Batman television series, which led to work as an orchestrator on the animated feature film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Bronskill's more recent orchestration credits have included the 2005 films Elektra (based on the Marvel Comics character), The Deal (starring Christian Slater), and Herbie Fully Loaded (featuring Jeremy Roberts) and the 2006 films Failure to Launch, Zoom, and Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. He also orchestrated the 2007 horror/thriller P2, which starred Rachel Nichols.

Outside of his work as an orchestrator, Bronskill has composed the music for such films as Friend of the Family, Exception to the Rule (starring Kim Cattrall), and Golf Punks. He has also been an "auricle operator" on such films as Batman & Robin, Good Will Hunting, Analyze This, Spy Kids, The Princess Diaries, Panic Room, The Scorpion King (starring The Rock), Sideways (starring Virginia Madsen), Team America: World Police, and Nacho Libre.
