Rich Thorne was a doctor at Taylor Hospital on Melina II in 2368.
That year, he diagnosed Gary Hutzel, a patient at Taylor Hospital, with Iresine syndrome, though it was later discovered that Hutzel had become the victim of a telepathic attack by the Ullian Jev. (TNG: "Violations")
Thorne was named after Digital Magic creative director Rich Thorne who worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager.
