A revolution is a sudden change of government within a nation state, often but not always brought about by violence.
During the 18th century the American Revolution was fought on North America, Earth between Great Britain and her colonies. The revolution led to the formation of the United States of America. (TOS: "The City on the Edge of Forever")
When Commander Sisko was brought to the mirror universe in 2371, the Terran Rebellion claimed to be waging a revolution. (DS9: "Through the Looking Glass")
