A research station (also called a space laboratory or with the designation Science Station) is a facility specialized in scientific research. Research stations may be space stations or surface facilities.
Research stations often perform scientific research that is too dangerous to conduct in populated areas. Some stations, like the Regula I Space Laboratory, also conduct highly classified research.
