Background Information
- This is the novelization of "Relics" by Michael Jan Friedman. There are quite a few differences between this novel and the episode on which it is based. Among these differences:
- The registration of the USS Jenolen is NCC-567 here, and given as NCC-2010 in the episode.
- We see what happened to Scotty prior to being discovered by the crew of the Enterprise-D.
- Guinan appears in this novel.
- Scotty's shuttle is named Christopher here, and given as Goddard in the episode.
- Ensign Kane's role is expanded.
