He received no on screen credit for his appearance. Red Horton had also appeared in a ''[[Star Trek: The Next Generation]]'' episode of which Captain Jean Luc Picard faces the decision to alter an unfortunate event in his past (receiving a knife wound through his heart), thus changing the outcome of his life and career accomplishments, however remaining to live out the rest of his life as a complete unknown crew member aboard the Enterprise. Or, relinquish his life in order to leave his life's events the way they are, thus leaving his life and career as a prestigious Star Fleet captain unaltered and well accomplished. Red Horton portrays young Jean Luc in the flashback sequence of which Jean Luc sees his youthful self fall victim to the knife wound during a bar-room brawl.
