Rator III was the inhabited third planet in the Rator system of the Beta Quadrant.
In the mid-23rd century, Rator III was located on the Federation side of the Romulan Neutral Zone. In 2269, a Vendorian posing as Captain James T. Kirk ordered the USS Enterprise on a direct course to Rator III at the request of Carter Winston, who claimed that the survival of the planet's entire population was dependent on their soonest possible arrival. However, this course would require traveling through the Neutral Zone. In reality, "Winston" was the previous identity taken by the Vendorian, who was working as part of a Romulan plot to seize the Enterprise. (TAS: "The Survivor")
By the mid-24th century, Rator III was controlled by the Romulan Star Empire. Lurak T'Luco spent one year in a rehabilitation facility on Rator III as part of his five-year prison sentence for hijacking a warbird in 2366. (PIC: "Disengage")
