Randy Suhr was an assistant director on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Second Second Assistant Director on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Suhr also worked with the First Assistant Director of those films, Douglas E. Wise, on the films Hard to Kill, The Mighty Ducks, Grumpy Old Men, and Baby's Day Out.
Suhr directed episodes for a number of television shows for Fisher Broadcasting throughout the 1980s. After leaving Fisher, Suhr became an associate director for Hollywood productions, beginning with Star Trek IV. Following this, he worked as a Second Second Assistant Director on such shows as Cheers and Matlock. He later became a First Assistant Director for shows like Deadly Games, starring Christopher Lloyd and Brent Spiner, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring Scott Bakula. He has also worked as an associate producer for a few films, including Showtime's 1996 science fiction thriller Menno's Mind, starring Corbin Bernsen, William O. Campbell, Michael Dorn, and Robert Picardo, and the acclaimed 1998 drama Smoke Signals.
Other projects Suhr worked on include as First Assistant Director and 2nd unit director on Miracle on 34th Street and 2nd Unit Director on Smoke Signals.
More recently, Suhr was the First Assistant Director on CBS's Everybody Loves Raymond for over 100 episodes. He currently works on another CBS story, The New Adventures of Old Christine.
